SkySpecs is hiring an Internal Blade Inspection Technician

Responsibilities

  • Execute the inspection of wind turbines utilizing remote technologies such as internal inspection drones or rovers/crawlers.
  • Manipulation of the operational controls of customer wind turbine assets and support equipment
  • Climbing Customer Wind Turbines
  • Entering nacelle and hub areas of wind turbine
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal SkySpecs, industry and site safety protocol while operating on customer wind turbines
  • Operational execution of internal inspections with remote sensing technologies
  • Troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical inspection equipment
  • Travel across the USA with an inspection team on extensive travel rotations, up to 5 weeks “on” and 1 week “off”
  • Follow company operational & safety processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, safety and quality of work.
  • Maintain relevant industry training, certifications and currencies for operational deployment needs
  • Provide feedback to operational leadership and safety team on operational processes & procedures
  • Manage personal logistics with continual guidance and support from project managers and company leadership using Slack and phone calls
  • Work with Resource Manager and Delivery teams to support project scheduling and execution
  • Collaborate with Inspection Services colleagues, Safety and Quality to ensure completion of projects on-time and within data quality standards.

  • WINDA ID and GWO BST (modules 1-4) or equivalent alternative training
  • Confined Space Training
  • Advanced Rescue Training
  • Respirator Fit Test Completion
  • Fit for Duty Examination
  • Ability to travel up to 80% - domestic and international
  • A valid driver’s license and passport
  • Excellent Physical condition - Need to be able to climb 2-3 towers per day
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to crawl in and out of small spaces (Nacelles, Hubs)
  • Capable of standing for long periods of time (several hours) over the course of a day

Nice to Have

  • 1+ years of experience in field services preferred, field operations or a similar function - or completion of wind turbine technical training school program
  • 3+ years of experience in field services, field operations or a similar function
  • Experience working across multiple wind turbine platforms, up-tower
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills; high attention to detail; consistent follow through; a stellar team player
  • Significant travel experience – domestic and international

Benefits

  • Per Diem: $59 for meals and incidentals, Hotel costs are covered by the company.
  • Additional per diem may be available for 4x4POV ($60/day) and Camper ($60/day) (pending company approval)

Additional Information

  • Rotation: 3 weeks on, 1 week off; or 5 weeks on, 1 week off (some flexibility in rotation lengths)
