Responsibilities
- Implement after-school activities in core program areas such as academic assistance, homework club, fitness, recreation, arts, and enrichment.
- Help document program schedules, lesson plans, curriculum, youth participation, and outcomes.
- Apply positive behavior and classroom management techniques with children.
- Record student attendance daily using sign-in and sign-out sheets.
- Support after-school program registration, customer service, and community outreach.
- Maintain high health and safety standards to protect students, staff, and others.
- Participate in all after-school activities including preparation, setup, takedown, and cleanup to ensure facility cleanliness.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, staff, parents, school personnel, and community partners.
- Work with students in small groups or one-on-one under the Lead Teacher's direction to tutor, reinforce, or follow up on learning activities in core academic, language, or specialized subjects.
- Help establish and maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom and learning environment.
- Prepare and set up instructional materials and equipment for classroom activities; maintain these materials and equipment.
- Assist classroom teachers in creating curriculum modifications for students.
- Provide testing accommodations, including supervising students taking tests in a separate location or with extended time.
- Review and correct student work assignments.
- Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans using approved positive reinforcement strategies and behavior modification techniques.
- Facilitate and support social interactions and foster positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers.
- Model appropriate behavior and attitudes, and provide emotional support and general guidance to all students.
- Support students to actively participate in field trips, school assemblies, and productions.
- Support students in community-based life skills activities such as using public transportation, shopping, and ordering food as directed by the Education Specialist.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of work experience in a youth development organization planning and supervising activities based on young people's developmental needs, or equivalent experience.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Title I paraprofessionals with instructional support duties must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: an associate's or bachelor's degree (or at least 48 units in progress), a passing score of 460 on the ETS ParaPro Assessment, or passing the CBEST exams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work with young people, parents, and community leaders.
- Proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications including Google Classroom, Hangout, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

- This role is paid over a 12-month period, including scheduled school breaks and summer break.
- Physical: Ability to navigate school and classroom settings. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting or carrying of equipment weighing 1-35 lbs. Physical agility to move in various positions such as frequent kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead.
- Mental: Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, and memorize and recall objects and people.
- Environmental: School and in-person classroom environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions. Adhere to KIPP's health and safety guidelines as outlined by CDC, CDE, and public health agencies' recommendations.
- This is a full-time, non-exempt position based on a school year calendar cycle and time off policy, located at our school sites.
