Responsibilities
- Analyze current workloads and infrastructure to determine readiness for migration to AWS, Azure, or GCP, identifying potential benefits and obstacles.
- Evaluate and enhance on-prem compute, storage, and virtualization systems, including VMware vSphere, with focus on capacity, performance, patching, and lifecycle management to support hybrid operations.
- Collaborate with identity and domain specialists to ensure secure and resilient integration of Active Directory and Azure AD, including group policies, DNS/DHCP, certificate services, and time synchronization.
- Verify on-prem network architecture—including segmentation, routing, firewalls, and load balancing—to support secure, low-latency connections to cloud platforms via solutions like VPN, ExpressRoute, or Direct Connect.
- Strengthen on-prem backup and disaster recovery using Rubrik, ensuring proper policies, retention, immutability, and restore testing, while defining hybrid DR models with clear RPO and RTO targets.
- Lead proof-of-concept projects for hybrid cloud use cases such as analytics environments or burstable VDI, working with infrastructure and modernization teams to validate solutions.
- Design and deploy cloud governance frameworks covering security, compliance, and financial operations to manage cloud usage effectively.
- Support automation adoption using tools like Ansible and Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources, collaborating with automation engineers to standardize hybrid processes.
- Coordinate with on-prem and cloud teams to align practices, share knowledge, and advance hybrid initiatives.
- Document migration procedures, governance standards, and key insights; contribute to team training and capability development.
