Position Summary Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a skilled HVAC/R Service Technician to join our growing Service team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The successful candidate will perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment across a diverse customer base. A B Gas license is preferred, with opportunities for continued training and professional development. Key Responsibilities • Perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, including: • Rooftop units, make-up air units, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and refrigeration equipment • Diagnosing equipment issues and determining appropriate corrective actions • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical manuals • Provide technical support and professional customer service on-site • Identify opportunities for system improvements and preventative maintenance • Communicate professionally with customers, facility managers, and internal project teams • Complete service reports, work orders, and digital documentation accurately and efficiently • Coordinate service activities with other trades, supervisors, and project managers as required • Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours emergency service work, as required • Maintain and operate tools, equipment, and company vehicle in a safe and professional condition • Actively participate in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments Qualifications & Requirements • Journeyperson HVAC/R Technician trade certification • B Gas License (preferred) • Experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC/R service work • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer documentation • Excellent communication and customer service skills • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record • Physically capable of performing duties of the trade, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and in confined mechanical spaces Assets (Considered an Advantage) • Valid Manitoba Gasfitter B Certification (preferred) • Experience servicing standard commercial, industrial facilities, or institutional buildings • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and advanced controls • Familiarity with mobile service management platforms • Safety certifications such as First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Aerial Work Platforms Why Join Black & McDonald? • Work directly alongside experienced trades people and industry leaders for mentorship and training • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package • Service vehicle, tools, and technology provided • Overtime and on-call premiums • Stable, long-term employment with a respected industry leader • Strong safety culture and collaborative team environment • Ongoing training, certification support, and career advancement opportunities #LI-AD12
