Fehr Graham, a Trilon Group company, is hiring a Highway Department Manager to join our team. You will lead a department responsible for delivering a variety of highway and roadway projects for clients including NJDOT, the NJ Turnpike Authority, and other agencies.
What You'll Do
- Manage department staff workload, technical development, and day-to-day oversight.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to determine technical team assignments.
- Monitor staff progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track and within budget.
- Assist Project Managers in managing project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and quality assurance.
- Develop project proposals, budgets, and schedules, collaborating with clients to define objectives.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineers, designers, and support staff.
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders for project implementation.
- Prepare and present project status reports, progress updates, and deliverables.
- Act as Project Manager on select projects, leading multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, and execution.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional development.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey.
- At least 15 years of experience in highway engineering and roadway design.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in staff management.
- Direct experience with NJDOT, NJ Turnpike, and NJ Counties.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects from conception to completion.
- Strong technical expertise in transportation engineering principles, standards, and practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
