We are recruiting an accomplished Heavy-Duty Mechanic with Red Seal or Journeyman credentials to support equipment maintenance during a 5-6 month Winter Ice Road project in Nunavut. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and proficient in CAT equipment with expertise in CAT ET and SIS Systems.
This role involves a fly-in/fly-out assignment with a 3-week in, 3-week off rotation stationed with the Maintenance Team.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain equipment readiness through preventive maintenance schedules
- Perform comprehensive repairs including component replacements and upgrades
- Manage corrosion control and winterization procedures
- Diagnose and correct equipment deficiencies through systematic disassembly and reassembly
- Handle Loaders, Dozers, Excavators, Graders, SnowCats, and various truck types
- Conduct performance test drives and system adjustments
- Manage vehicle cleanliness and documentation
- Maintain shop equipment and inventory
- Comfortable working in remote locations
- Arctic experience considered advantageous
- Manage supply inventories
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings
- Ensure workplace safety compliance
- Report potential safety risks
Requirements:
- Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
- 3-5 years relevant heavy-duty mechanical experience
- Mining equipment and hydraulic systems knowledge preferred
- Outstanding problem-solving capabilities
- Adaptable to team and independent work environments
