About the Role
The mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of heavy mining equipment through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and timely repairs in a demanding operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in heavy mining equipment
- Perform scheduled maintenance on trucks, excavators, and drilling machinery
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Replace worn or damaged components following technical specifications
- Maintain accurate service records and repair logs
- Follow safety protocols during all maintenance activities
- Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize repair tasks
- Assist in equipment testing after repairs are completed
- Ensure tools and workspaces meet safety and cleanliness standards
- Respond to emergency breakdowns during shifts
- Use diagnostic tools to identify engine and transmission problems
- Disassemble and reassemble complex mechanical systems
- Install new parts and retrofit existing equipment
- Follow manufacturer guidelines for service intervals
- Support junior mechanics with technical guidance
- Adhere to environmental and operational regulations
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions
- Monitor equipment performance to anticipate failures
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures
- Work in outdoor conditions across all seasons
Nice to Have
- Experience with Caterpillar or Komatsu machinery
- Certification in high-pressure hydraulic systems
