Responsibilities
- Define and own the quality framework, including coverage standards for unit, service, integration, and end-to-end tests, gate criteria, and quality contribution to the Definition of Done at the function level, aligning with the Head of Engineering for backend and Head of Frontend Engineering for client-side.
- Establish measurable coverage baselines per service and per tribe, ensure trend visibility, and drive adoption across teams.
- Hold and exercise pre-release veto authority to block releases when quality gates are not met, and own the automated tooling that makes this veto self-triggering rather than dependent on a single person.
- Define and drive the framework for AI-assisted test tooling, including automated test generation, regression coverage, integration test tooling, and the agentic QA pipeline, acting as designer and driver while implementation is a cross-functional effort with Platform, backend, web, and mobile engineers.
- Enable Stream Aligned Teams to perform quality work independently by producing training, documentation, tooling, and templates, eliminating the need for a separate QA function.
- Partner with the Head of Platform Engineering on test environment strategy, including dedicated QA environments, test data management, and integration test infrastructure.
- Own quality posture reporting, including metrics such as defect escape rate, coverage trends, release veto rate, AI tooling adoption progress, and percentage of releases requiring no manual quality intervention.
- Partner with Security to integrate SAST, DAST, and dependency scanning as components of the quality gate.
