Responsibilities
- Guide and advance engineering leaders such as Tech Leads, Architects, and Senior Engineers through structured career development, mentorship, and skill-building initiatives
- Detect recurring capability shortfalls and lead focused improvement programs including training, coaching, and recruitment assistance
- Contribute to hiring success by shaping job definitions, engaging in candidate evaluations, and supporting new hire integration
- Collaborate with Delivery Managers to enhance resource allocation, align team strengths with business needs, and eliminate knowledge silos
- Develop and maintain a streamlined Engineering Handbook for Business Systems, outlining coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, security practices, and code management rules
- Implement a strategic approach to technical debt by increasing transparency, setting priorities, and ensuring measurable reduction over time
- Enforce uniform platform and integration engineering methods across all domains
- Encourage the practical integration of AI tools into development workflows and internal systems to enhance performance, speed, and stability
- Work closely with Product and Delivery teams to proactively identify technical dependencies, risks, and limitations
- Define and manage quality assurance strategies and appropriate test automation levels tailored to each team or domain
- Advance Site Reliability Engineering principles including reliability benchmarks, incident response, and post-mortem analysis
- Enhance uniformity in release processes, testing depth, and system maintainability across engineering groups
- Champion standardized DevOps and deployment practices such as incremental delivery, trunk-based development, and automated quality checks
- Foster a culture of documentation and knowledge exchange using runbooks, architectural decision records, and onboarding materials
- Collaborate with Product teams to define and uphold clear criteria for task readiness and completion
- Ensure engineering methods align with organizational frameworks and drive practical implementation for consistent, high-performance operations
- Serve as the primary technical liaison to Product leadership, clarify ownership boundaries, surface technical constraints, and safeguard engineering health
- Participate as a key technical stakeholder in enterprise architecture governance, validating designs for feasibility, maintainability, and consistency
- Establish a clear division of responsibilities: Delivery Managers oversee roadmaps, scope, budgets, and outcomes; the Head of Engineering owns technical standards, team capability, quality, and execution integrity
