About the Role
Lead the development and expansion of sending and receiving markets in East Africa by shaping strategy, managing growth initiatives, and representing the region internally and externally. The role holds full accountability for profitability, user acquisition and retention, product experience, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a strategic roadmap for launching and scaling operations across East Africa
- Identify innovative approaches to increase adoption, enhance profitability, and strengthen brand visibility
- Provide regular, data-informed updates to executive leadership with actionable insights
- Analyze key performance indicators across growth, operations, and finance to guide decision-making
- Develop trusted relationships with diaspora communities and commercial partners to improve brand reach and economic efficiency
- Coordinate with internal departments including Customer Service, Finance, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and People Operations
- Drive customer acquisition, retention, pricing strategy, user research, product quality, and customer experience in sending countries
- Propose product enhancements using insights from market dynamics, competitors, and user behavior
- Lead on-the-ground teams to meet aligned timelines through collaborative execution
- Recruit, motivate, and develop high-performing, diverse talent
- Oversee team coaching and professional development
Requirements
- Preferred base location in Nairobi, Dubai, or London
- Willingness to travel internationally on an ad-hoc and periodic basis
- Strong interest in the East African diaspora and remittance behaviors
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
- Experience leading, building, and developing teams across multiple regions
- Familiarity with East Africa’s regulatory environment, particularly in financial services
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience making decisions based on data
- 7 to 15 years in fast-growing, high-pressure environments such as startups, consulting, finance, or operations
- Deep sense of ownership with equal focus on user experience and scalable growth optimization

Global organization of 250 employees representing over 50 nationalities and 50 languages; this role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and will build and lead a local team of growth managers in sending markets.
