Responsibilities
- Develop control system designs aligned with specified architecture and performance requirements for fixed-wing aerial platforms
- Create and deploy control algorithms that consider actuator saturation, time delays, and sensor inaccuracies as part of the controls group
- Contribute to system identification efforts and the creation of aerodynamic models using data from wind-tunnel testing, computational fluid dynamics, and flight experiments
- Conduct verification and validation activities including software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, Monte Carlo simulations, and flight-readiness assessments; report results to team members and leadership
- Support planning and execution of flight tests; evaluate flight data, refine control parameters, and implement improvements rapidly and safely
- Collaborate with the controls team, progressing tasks from concept through design and code reviews to meet project timelines and objectives
