Responsibilities
- Act as the principal legal advisor and technical expert on financial crime, including sanctions programs from OFAC, UN, EU, UK, and other jurisdictions, as well as AML/CFT, anti-corruption, fraud, and market misconduct
- Deliver authoritative legal guidance on financial crime exposure tied to products, services, and operations in multiple regulatory environments
- Serve as the main legal contact for regulators, law enforcement agencies, and financial intelligence units on financial crime issues, including with OFAC, FinCEN, FCA, MAS, and similar bodies
- Lead legal strategy and responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, enforcement proceedings, and voluntary disclosures related to financial crime
- Manage sanctions-related legal matters such as license submissions, SDN list screening, counterparty due diligence, and responses to OFAC requests
- Partner with global compliance, investigations, and transaction monitoring units to identify, evaluate, and address legal risks linked to financial crime across business functions
- Assess new products, strategic partnerships, and market expansions for financial crime implications and integrate legal risk controls into launch processes
- Supervise the use of external legal counsel on financial crime issues across jurisdictions
- Create, update, and maintain legal policies, frameworks, and guidance documents specific to financial crime compliance
- Track evolving global regulations in financial crime areas and deliver practical, timely insights to senior leadership
- Lead legal training and awareness programs on financial crime topics for internal teams
