PG&E is looking for a GIS Intern to join our team. In this role, you will support the development and enhancement of GIS web mapping applications and data services focused on wildfire management, environmental analysis, and field data collection. You'll gain hands-on experience with diverse GIS use cases working in a production enterprise environment with real-world impact.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to interactive web maps, environmental layers, and asset data analyses.
- Assist with data preparation and visualization.
- Support workflows and maps that improve situational awareness for wildfire and environmental operations.
What We're Looking For
- Must be earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, and/or Information Systems.
- Students must be continuing their education towards a degree during and/or after the internship.
Nice to Have
- A 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative and major GPA.
- Already completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a related field.
- A dual major with a second major in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
- Basic knowledge in computer science or IT as it relates to 3D point cloud data, NAS, and AWS systems.
- Basic investigative, assessment, and evaluation skills.
- Experience working on computer systems, architectures, networks, and data.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Good organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Comfort with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This role is part of the Electric Asset Knowledge Management Division’s GIS APS team.
Work Mode
This position follows a hybrid work model and is based in Oakland.
