Responsibilities
- Manage and execute essential general ledger tasks with a focus on quality, accuracy, and efficient processes.
- Handle full-cycle fixed asset accounting, including asset construction tracking, reclassification of non-capitalizable costs, asset additions and disposals, depreciation runs, and resolution of complex issues in compliance with accounting standards.
- Create and process journal entries, including standard shared service entries, one-time and complex postings, inputs from business units or NSC, and resolve system errors in AX to support timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and approve journal entries to verify correctness, adherence to internal controls, and alignment with accounting principles.
- Conduct intercompany reconciliations by detecting mismatches, requesting missing records, answering standard inquiries, and independently analyzing and resolving variances to ensure financial consistency.
- Oversee complete accounting cycles for designated legal entities, covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, intercompany, and treasury functions, emphasizing accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Lead the monthly corporate reporting cycle, including data uploads to Cognos, reconciliation of recurring variances, completion of required reports such as Balance Sheet, P&L, Fixed Assets table, and Aging, and investigation of inconsistencies.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout financial reporting by adhering fully to Internal Control System (ICS) requirements.
- Maintain and update internal documentation such as Desktop Procedures and ICS manuals to reflect current workflows and support audit preparedness.
- Prepare and verify Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations (BSAR), ensuring clear and accurate account summaries, proper documentation of balances, and escalation of unresolved items.
- Perform reconciliations of subledgers for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets, identifying and resolving standard discrepancies and independently investigating complex cases.
- Conduct monthly analysis of Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss fluctuations, identifying significant variances and providing explanations to support financial clarity and decision-making.
- Ensure reconciliation records are complete and compliant, with proper follow-up procedures to support audit readiness and financial accuracy.
- Assist in tax reporting activities on monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles, and support tax audits and responses to tax authority inquiries.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of VAT returns, including review of all supporting documents and calculations.
- Establish and maintain strong controls to safeguard the accuracy and reliability of VAT reporting and submissions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to resolve VAT-related questions and issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and implement automation where feasible.
- Support annual audits and tax filing processes by working with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure compliance and timely delivery of required materials.
- Prepare and deliver standard audit data, including extracting reports from AX, completing standard templates, and responding to routine auditor and tax-related requests.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities to ensure smooth execution and compliance with regulatory and internal control standards.
- Keep processes current by monitoring exceptions or changes, updating process catalogs, and proactively suggesting improvements in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Serve as a knowledge source by informing NSC and business partners of process requirements and staying updated on country- or entity-specific procedures, particularly in backup areas.
- Support transition initiatives by participating in knowledge transfer sessions, preparing GL process summaries for stakeholders, and identifying and resolving issues during handovers.
- Take ownership of client communications from initial needs assessment through to final resolution, maintaining professionalism and responsiveness.
