Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
  • Collaborate with primary care and specialty teams for coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide patient education on digestive health and treatment plans.
  • Adhere to clinical guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations.
  • Support precepting and training of medical staff when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with VA policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of internal medicine residency.
  • Fellowship training in gastroenterology.
  • Board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Maine.
  • Active or ability to obtain DEA registration.
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience in endoscopy and procedural gastroenterology.
  • Commitment to veteran-centered care.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within VA or federal healthcare systems.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records systems.
  • Prior leadership or teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms.
  • Additional training in advanced endoscopic techniques.
