Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Collaborate with primary care and specialty teams for coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide patient education on digestive health and treatment plans.
- Adhere to clinical guidelines and safety protocols.
- Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations.
- Support precepting and training of medical staff when needed.
- Ensure compliance with VA policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of internal medicine residency.
- Fellowship training in gastroenterology.
- Board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Maine.
- Active or ability to obtain DEA registration.
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience in endoscopy and procedural gastroenterology.
- Commitment to veteran-centered care.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within VA or federal healthcare systems.
- Proficiency in electronic health records systems.
- Prior leadership or teaching experience.
