The Founding Engineer will build the technical foundation of The Flex, a company redefining global living by making home rentals instant, intelligent, and effortless. This role involves designing and scaling core systems from the ground up, with full ownership across the stack and a direct impact on the company’s long-term trajectory.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement the initial architecture powering bookings, payments, availability, and guest experience
- Own the stack across frontend, backend, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
- Choose tools and patterns that scale
- Build web apps, APIs, automation pipelines, integrations, and cloud infrastructure
- Make architectural decisions that will impact the company for years
- Move fast to turn ideas into production systems used in the real world
- Replace manual processes with event-driven workflows and intelligent automation from day one
- Build deep integrations with platforms such as Airbnb, Stripe, Hostaway, and Twilio
- Deploy, monitor, and iterate on production systems with speed, reliability, and pragmatism
- Tackle real-time booking sync, pricing intelligence, keyless access logic, AI-powered alerts, and operational dashboards
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and a culture of quality, ownership, and execution
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience building production systems (full-stack or backend-heavy)
- Comfort working across web apps, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with FastAPI, React, and AWS (or equivalent stacks)
- A bias toward shipping over perfection
- High tolerance for ambiguity and changing requirements
- An ownership mindset — treating the product like it’s yours
