Responsibilities
- Help design, build, and test flight software components for spacecraft systems such as command and data handling, power management, communications, and guidance, navigation, and control.
- Assist in designing software essential to spacecraft operations, developed as Linux-based applications running on satellite flight hardware.
- Collaborate within a small, agile team to manage the full software development lifecycle across multiple projects, from requirements to verification.
- Take part in design and code reviews to maintain high standards across the flight software codebase.
- Support operations and payload teams by addressing their specific needs related to satellite flight systems.
- Develop embedded software to interface with onboard satellite devices using communication protocols like CAN, I2C, SPI, RS-422, and RS-485.
- Enable coordination between software applications using standard Linux inter-process communication methods.
- Create testing software to validate flight functions at unit, integration, and system levels.
- Build telemetry, instrumentation, and data collection tools used to verify flight software performance on ground test units.

On-site — Chantilly, VA
ITAR Requirements
Applicants must be (i) a U.S. citizen or national, (ii) a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) an asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158. Those not meeting these criteria must be able to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
