Standard Bots is looking for a Firmware Engineer to help architect the future of robotics through modern software engineering. You will operate at the boundary between hardware and software, ensuring our systems are reliable, observable, and debuggable.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for real-time motor control, sensing, and system monitoring.
- Debug complex system-level issues where root cause may span software, firmware, hardware, or component behavior.
- Use hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs to diagnose timing, signaling, and electrical issues.
- Act as a technical bridge between hardware and software, collaborating closely with EEs, controls, motion planning, and systems engineers.
- Advise leadership on technical decisions and strategy.
- Mentor and advise other engineers as well as peers on technical and personal advancement.
- Drive technical decision making and implementation through hands-on and technically deep work.
What We're Looking For
- A strong technical background, including 5+ years working in complex environments.
- Experience with MCUs: STM32.
- Experience with Languages: C / C++.
- Experience with RTOS: FreeRTOS or similar.

The Systems Group focuses on foundational technologies including motor and actuator control, embedded communications, system health monitoring/logging, and hardware bring-up.

- Compensation range: $180,000 to $230,000 + equity via Employee Stock Options.
