Brex is hiring a Financial Reporting Manager

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on both consolidated and standalone-entity bases for internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee reporting obligations for regulated entities and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards
  • Serve as the technical accounting expert, assessing complex transactions and advising on accounting treatment and disclosures
  • Monitor updates from the Financial Accounting Standards Board and evaluate their business impact in coordination with internal teams
  • Develop and refine GAAP-compliant accounting policies and support major initiatives such as post-merger integration and new product rollouts
  • Act as the lead accounting representative for Business Systems projects, ensuring proper ERP configuration and data mapping
  • Establish and maintain internal controls over financial reporting by defining control objectives, assessing risks, and implementing control activities
  • Build efficient, repeatable, and scalable financial processes, including maintaining up-to-date documentation
  • Serve as a key liaison between accounting, finance, and other business units for strategic projects
  • Ensure timely financial close by overseeing journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and coordination with FP&A
  • Drive process enhancements using automation, AI tools, and collaboration across departments

Requirements

  • Holding a valid CPA license
  • Minimum of six years of experience in public accounting or corporate finance roles
  • In-depth understanding of US GAAP and technical financial reporting standards
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment and handle challenges professionally
  • Innovative mindset with a track record of proposing creative solutions
  • Demonstrated ownership of responsibilities and commitment to professional development
  • Experience in designing and optimizing business processes and systems
  • Solid interpersonal skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets

Nice to Have

  • Combined background in public accounting and private sector finance
  • Prior experience in credit card or payment processing industries
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Google Gemini
  • Experience with NetSuite, Looker, or similar data visualization and automation platforms
  • Working knowledge of DFIN, Workiva, or comparable financial reporting systems
