Responsibilities
- Create and implement credit management and collections strategies to enhance cash flow, lower credit risk, and optimize working capital.
- Direct a dedicated Accounts Receivable and Credit team, collaborating with Commercial and Operations teams to ensure timely collections and resolve disputes effectively.
- Design and apply strategies to decrease Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and boost cash collections across all business units.
- Oversee collection efforts on overdue accounts, emphasizing aged and high-value debtors.
- Handle customer credit evaluations, approvals, credit limits, and payment terms.
- Monitor and reduce credit risk through regular customer assessments and proactive account management.
- Enforce disciplined collections governance, including credit hold procedures, recovery plans, and legal escalations when necessary.
- Work with internal stakeholders to settle invoice disputes and eliminate recurring process issues.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Receivable and Credit team, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Prepare weekly aging reports, DSO dashboards, cash collection forecasts, and executive performance reports.
- Drive continuous process improvements, support ERP and finance transformation initiatives, and ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Management, or Collections.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing AR, Credit, or Collections teams.
- Proven track record of significantly reducing DSO within a medium to large organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing aged debt portfolios exceeding FJD $10 million.
- Strong stakeholder management and commercial negotiation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, transport, or distribution industries.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Experience leading shared services or center-led collections functions.
