Field Service Engineer – Proton Therapy – Manchester
Work at the intersection of advanced engineering and life-saving healthcare as a Field Service Engineer supporting Proton Therapy systems. Operating from a Control Room environment, you’ll ensure the continuous, safe, and compliant performance of complex medical technology during clinical treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time operational oversight and technical response during patient treatments
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance, primarily outside standard business hours
- Monitor system performance and respond promptly to technical anomalies
- Diagnose and resolve faults across integrated mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Maintain precise records in compliance with medical device quality standards
- Support performance validation and contribute to system optimization initiatives
Qualifications and Skills
Successful candidates will have strong technical aptitude and the ability to work independently in a regulated, safety-critical setting. Proficiency in English and physical capability to handle equipment up to 20kg are essential. Shift flexibility is required, including nights and occasional weekends.
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems is highly valued
- Familiarity with Beckhoff and Siemens S7 PLCs, vacuum systems, power supplies, RF amplifiers, or robotics is an asset
- Background in regulated service environments, particularly healthcare or industrial controls, is preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are critical
