About the Role
The role involves ensuring that materials and processes used in satellite production comply with environmental health and safety regulations, international standards, and product lifecycle requirements.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate materials used in satellite components for regulatory compliance
- Ensure adherence to environmental laws such as REACH, RoHS, and ISO standards
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to select compliant materials
- Maintain databases of approved and restricted substances
- Conduct audits of supplier materials data and certifications
- Support product declarations for global market access
- Track evolving environmental regulations and assess impact on production
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve compliance issues
- Develop test plans to verify material properties and regulatory thresholds
- Manage documentation for environmental compliance reporting
- Assist in implementing sustainable design practices
- Lead efforts to reduce hazardous substances in production
- Provide technical guidance on environmental compliance to engineering teams
- Coordinate with external labs for materials testing
- Ensure proper labeling and handling of controlled materials
- Support environmental assessments during product development phases
- Participate in design reviews with a focus on materials selection
- Monitor supply chain changes affecting compliance status
- Develop and maintain compliance checklists for new projects
- Drive continuous improvement in environmental compliance processes
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in engineering or environmental science
- Certification in environmental compliance or hazardous materials management
- Direct experience with space hardware development
- Knowledge of NASA standards for materials and processes
- Experience with supply chain compliance tools

Basic Qualifications

- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
