DoorDash is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team within the Trust & Safety team in São Paulo, Brazil. This role involves building and evolving a global, multi-product, multi-language safety platform that protects users across the DoorDash ecosystem using AI-driven systems, real-time content moderation, and scalable enforcement solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers focused on safety systems, content moderation, and abuse detection
- Own the design and architecture of a global safety platform that serves multiple products, countries, and languages
- Productionize AI-driven moderation and classification models into high-volume, real-time workflows
- Shape the long-term architecture of systems that balance user safety, regulatory compliance, and platform experience
- Drive the migration from purpose-built safety tools to a unified, scalable platform serving the entire DoorDash group
- Mentor engineers in distributed systems design, AI/ML integration, and platform excellence
- Foster a culture of ownership, velocity, and strong cross-functional collaboration across time zones
- Partner with Recruiting to build a diverse, inclusive, and high-caliber engineering team in São Paulo
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Legal, and Strategy & Operations to define and deliver a roadmap
- Integrate AI-driven decisions, real-time content moderation, and robust policy enforcement into high-volume production systems
- Own both the technical direction and operational excellence required to run the platform at scale
What We're Looking For
- B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering
- 2+ years of experience in people management, leading teams of 5+ engineers
- Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
- Experience working with remote teams across different time zones and fluency in English
- Hands-on leadership style and strong product intuition
