Responsibilities
- Guide and support a backend engineering team by ensuring high technical standards, rapid delivery, and positive team dynamics
- Remain actively involved in the Ruby on Rails codebase through architecture planning, code reviews, and building complex features
- Take ownership of your team's technical direction, designing robust and scalable backend systems within a Rails monolith and microservices environment
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to convert strategic goals into actionable technical roadmaps with achievable timelines
- Promote best practices in testing, observability, security, and code quality to elevate team performance
- Integrate AI-enhanced development tools, including agentic systems and LLMs, to improve productivity and reduce repetitive work
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives through retrospectives, removing blockers, and fostering rapid engineer development
- Work with other engineering managers and leadership to refine and enhance engineering processes across the organization
