As an Engineering Manager I at Pinterest, you will lead a high-impact engineering team building and supporting mid-funnel ad products including Max-Width Collections, Promoted Board Takeover, Collage Ads, Ads Modules, Showcase Ads, and Quiz Ads. You will drive technical direction, execution, and AI integration across time-sensitive, revenue-critical products.
What You'll Do
- Lead an engineering team delivering mid-funnel ad products end to end, ensuring projects are well-scoped, de-risked, and shipped on time with strong performance against target metrics.
- Drive initiatives to apply AI across mid-funnel ad products, using AI to accelerate prototyping, experimentation, and iteration while maintaining quality and safety.
- Champion AI adoption in developer workflows, using AI to automate repeatable tasks (e.g., testing, documentation, code reviews) and improve engineering velocity and capacity.
- Use AI to synthesize complex inputs (metrics, experiments, user feedback, incidents) into clear insights that inform roadmap, tradeoffs, and technical decisions.
- Serve as the engineering owner for this workstream: define the technical roadmap, architecture, and long-term vision in partnership with cross-functional partners (PM, Design, DS, PMM).
- Actively contribute code and lead implementation of key projects, setting a high technical bar and modeling best practices in design, testing, and observability.
- Build and maintain a healthy, high-trust team culture, providing coaching, feedback, and career development support to engineers at different levels.
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align on priorities, manage dependencies, and communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of industry experience building complex and user-facing products, with clear accountability for timelines, quality, and business impact.
- 1+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams, including setting direction, driving execution, and supporting team members’ growth.
- Demonstrated experience using AI to improve speed and quality in your day-to-day engineering workflow (e.g., prototyping, code generation, test creation, documentation), with a clear approach to validating accuracy and robustness.
- Strong track record of critically evaluating AI-assisted work through testing, source-checking, data validation, and peer review; you know when to trust, when to verify, and when to override.
- High integrity and ownership: you protect sensitive data, avoid over-reliance on AI, and remain fully accountable for final decisions, shipped systems, and team outcomes.
- Strong hands-on technical background in ads or similarly high-scale domains, including designing and implementing core components in production.
- Exceptional collaboration skills with cross-functional partners, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, make tradeoffs, and keep stakeholders aligned on priorities and progress.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
