Responsibilities
- Direct technical strategy and implementation for assigned domains
- Elevate team performance standards and practices
- Update aging systems that have supported the product long-term
- Maintain code involvement: dedicate approximately 20-30% time to engineering tasks including writing production code, reviewing critical pull requests, and approving technical designs
- Address technical obstacles directly when necessary while enabling team autonomy
- Design and implement autonomous workflows within product core, advancing beyond assistance to self-directed testing execution
- Set multi-quarter technical direction collaborating with AI/ML teams on models and product teams on platform evolution
- Unify fragmented data structures, update older services, and ensure data integrity for safe agent operations
- Translate strategy into phased roadmap with product partners and oversee technical delivery end-to-end
- Implement planning and review processes balancing delivery pace with long-term scalability
- Blend engineering leadership with hands-on technical work to stay informed on codebase and decisions
- Manage production support including issue triage, escalation handling, and root-cause solutions
- Promote automation and permanent solutions to decrease recurring support needs and boost efficiency
- Establish service metrics, create performance monitoring, and lead investigations into production problems
- Ensure work traceability and consistent completion standards to minimize defects and control cloud expenses
- Provide technical coaching, integrate AI development tools into daily work, and reduce knowledge gaps through documentation
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years managing teams of 4+ engineers in agile remote settings
- Recent production coding experience and system design involvement
- Ability to work directly in codebase contributing to implementation and architectural choices
- Hands-on experience building LLM or agentic production features or rapidly leading teams into new technical areas
- Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, and React
- Essential API design and construction experience
- Familiarity with observability tools and optimizing database performance
- Knowledge of security best practices and integrating security into development lifecycle
- Experience updating legacy systems or addressing technical debt while maintaining product operation
- Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication
- Collaborative approach working with product management and cross-functional partners remotely
- Organized and detail-oriented with rigorous standards adherence
- Focus on team productivity, technical quality, and continuous enhancement
- Results-driven with data-informed decision making
