Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end delivery of the data platform, including streaming, storage, transformation, and pipelines, ensuring consistent quality and velocity without becoming a central bottleneck.
- Mentor, guide, and develop engineers through career progression, performance feedback, and creating an environment conducive to high-performance work.
- Maintain strong technical credibility by reviewing real-time data system designs, assessing trade-offs in warehouse architecture and modeling, and identifying scalability risks in production environments.
- Prioritize data consumers across product, finance, and business teams by advocating for reliable interfaces, clear documentation, and backward-compatible changes.
- Assume leadership of the growing machine learning function, overseeing delivery, team development, and strategic direction within the data organization.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to define achievable roadmaps, identify risks early, and shield the team from unsustainable commitments.
- Champion operational discipline through robust data quality monitoring, incident response, and follow-through on post-mortem actions for critical systems.
- Manage platform costs proactively by integrating financial operations practices, ensuring cost transparency, accountability for resource usage, and informed trade-offs between spending and performance.
