About the Role
This role involves leading the design, integration, and testing of optical and photonic hardware systems for a next-generation diagnostic platform. The candidate will manage technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure alignment between research goals and product development.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of optical subsystems
- Oversee prototyping and validation of photonic hardware components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system integration
- Define technical requirements based on product objectives
- Guide experimental design for optical performance testing
- Manage hardware development timelines and milestones
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
- Troubleshoot complex optomechanical and electronic interfaces
- Evaluate new technologies for integration into existing platforms
- Develop calibration and characterization procedures
- Support transition from lab-scale to scalable manufacturing
- Document design decisions and test outcomes
- Interface with external partners and academic collaborators
- Maintain alignment between research data and engineering specs
- Drive continuous improvement in optical system performance
- Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations
- Optimize signal-to-noise ratios in detection systems
- Ensure robustness of optical alignment under real-world conditions
- Contribute to intellectual property development
