Lely is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer Microcontrollers to contribute the intelligence at the core of our robotic and connected products. You will develop firmware that directly controls actuators, interprets sensor data, and enables reliable communication between systems, working on microcontroller-based platforms where real-time performance, robustness, and efficiency are essential.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and test embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems with a focus on real-time performance and reliability.
- Develop and optimize control logic for motors, actuators, and sensor-driven systems.
- Integrate wired and wireless communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Contribute to system architecture discussions and translate functional requirements into robust firmware solutions.
- Ensure software quality through structured development practices such as code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Support the product lifecycle from prototype to validation and release.
What We're Looking For
- A background in Embedded Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Around 2–5 years of experience in embedded development (for junior profiles, internships or graduation projects also count).
- Solid experience with C and/or C++ in microcontroller environments (e.g., ARM Cortex-M).
- Familiarity with RTOS-based or bare-metal development.
- Experience working with common embedded communication protocols (such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, BLE).
- Basic knowledge of debugging tools such as JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, or oscilloscopes.
Nice to Have
- Experience with motor control, BLE stacks, IoT concepts (low-power strategies, OTA updates), Nordic microcontrollers, or automated test setups.
Technical Stack
- Languages: C, C++
- Platforms: ARM Cortex-M
- Operating System: RTOS
- Protocols: SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
- Tools: JTAG/SWD
Team & Environment
You will collaborate closely with hardware, electronics, and mechanical engineers.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: €5,000 and €7,100 gross per month.
- Up to 8 weeks of vacation per year.
- A good pension scheme.
- Access to a wide range of courses through the Lely Academy.
- Daily access to excellent sports facilities on the Lely Campus: an indoor gym, outdoor padel courts, basketball and volleyball courts, table tennis, and table soccer.
- Fresh coffee and tea from our own barista and a healthy, affordable company restaurant.
- A free shuttle bus to and from the metro in Maassluis.
Work Mode
This is a hybrid position based in Maassluis.
Lely is an international environment where collaboration, initiative, and diverse perspectives are valued. We encourage learning, experimentation, and ownership of ideas, and we love to celebrate.
