Responsibilities
- Create embedded software for innovative fixed wing and multi-rotor unmanned aircraft platforms
- Enhance autonomous UAV flight capabilities by extending and customizing the PX4 autopilot software
- Incorporate new autonomy algorithms into flight control systems, converting code from Python to C/C++ when needed
- Maintain and run simulation environments to validate and assess new algorithmic features
- Assist in building preflight mission planning tools using Python, connected to data and user interfaces via web APIs
- Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to integrate new algorithms and subsystems into vehicle architectures
- Participate in UAV flight testing activities, including system setup, ground station operations, data logging, and post-flight analysis
- Report on design progress, test outcomes, and technical recommendations clearly and promptly
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in embedded software development and deployment
- High level of expertise in C/C++, Python, and Rust programming languages
- Working knowledge of PX4, Ardupilot, or equivalent autopilot systems, including integration into commercial UAV platforms and flight configuration
- Proven experience with real-time operating systems and embedded communication interfaces such as UART, I2C, and CAN
- Hands-on experience setting up and configuring control hardware, including telemetry systems, radios, and power components
- Solid ability to debug and resolve complex software and system-level issues
- Willingness to travel and support field testing activities for up to 10% of the year
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
