AECOM is hiring an Electrical Engineering Lead, Data Centers - Remote (U.S.)

About the Role

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Lead specializing in hyper-scale data centers to design, implement, and maintain electrical systems in large-scale facilities. This is a remote, client-facing role offering opportunities for career growth and collaboration across global teams.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers, including medium and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation drawings
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards
  • Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to develop specifications, design criteria, and project budgets
  • Analyze electrical systems to identify and resolve issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization
  • Monitor and maintain the electrical systems, including performing preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs
  • Develop and implement electrical safety procedures and training programs for technicians and other staff
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in electrical engineering and data center technologies, and recommend new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure
  • Is accountable for project success in the electrical discipline
  • Provides specialized technical input to supporting staff, acting as a mentor and leader for mid-level engineers
  • Approves and signs off on work, acting as Engineer of Record
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large, complex projects
  • Leads technical client relationships and plays a major role in selling

What We're Looking For

  • Strong background in electrical engineering
  • Experience working with high-density data centers
  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain electrical systems in large-scale data centers
  • Experience ensuring compliance with National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards
  • Proven ability to analyze electrical systems for load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization
  • Experience monitoring, testing, and repairing electrical systems
  • Ability to develop and implement electrical safety procedures and training programs
  • Accountability for project success in the electrical discipline
  • Experience providing specialized technical input and mentoring mid-level engineers
  • Eligibility to act as Engineer of Record with authority to approve and sign off on work
  • Experience providing engineering budget and schedule estimates for large, complex projects
  • Proven ability to lead technical client relationships and contribute to business development
