Responsibilities
- Advocate for customers, build relationships, and communicate effectively.
- Transition smoothly between delivery tasks and strategic customer engagements.
- Collaborate with the broader Elastic organization to support customer goals, strategic needs, and their Elastic journey.
- Manage the strategic roadmap with customers, including quarterly sessions with senior stakeholders for one or multiple customers with shared objectives.
- Design, develop, and integrate Elastic products and APIs, plan platform architecture and capacity in mission-critical environments.
- Work effectively in a remote, highly distributed team setting.
- Create demos and proof-of-concepts to demonstrate the value of the Elastic Stack.
- Model data, develop and optimize queries, tune clusters, and scale for fast search and analytics at scale.
- Solve challenging data problems for customers.
- Collaborate with Elastic engineering, product management, and support teams to identify feature enhancements and extensions.
- Work with the Elastic Sales team to scope opportunities and assess technical risks, questions, or concerns.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch and/or Lucene.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer, System Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.
- Minimum of 5 years of consulting experience delivering and executing professional services engagements.
- Currently hold or have previously held German security clearance.
- Fluency in German is essential.
- Experience as a technical instructor or public speaker on enterprise infrastructure software to engineers, developers, and other technical audiences.
- Excellent at working directly with customers to gather, prioritize, plan, and execute solutions to business requirements related to our technologies.
- Understanding and passion for open-source technology, and proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Hands-on experience with large distributed systems from architecture and development perspectives.
- Knowledge of information retrieval and/or analytics domains.
- Willingness to work onsite with customers frequently and travel as required.
- Understanding of Linux, Java, and databases.
Nice to Have
- Deep understanding of Elasticsearch and Lucene, including Elastic Certified Engineer certification.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Java and Linux/Unix environments, software development, and/or experience with distributed systems.
- Experience and interest in delivering and/or developing product training.
- Experience contributing to an open-source project or documentation.
