Responsibilities
- Offer expert advice and practical support on environmental, health, and safety issues to managers, safety reps, staff, contractors, suppliers, and site visitors.
- Demonstrate leadership by modeling safe and compliant behaviors.
- Take initiative in identifying and addressing EHS-related concerns proactively.
- Assess training needs, inform project teams, and deliver necessary EHS training programs.
- Conduct audits and site inspections, then develop realistic corrective and preventive actions to meet EHS standards and drive ongoing improvements.
- Deliver accurate reports on EHS risks, performance indicators, and trends, including data-backed recommendations for enhancements.
- Ensure all incidents are properly reported and investigated with rigor to determine root causes and implement effective corrective plans.
- Maintain and update site-specific EHS plans, risk assessments, method statements, and related documents, ensuring compliance and regular review.
- Report directly to the EHS Manager, Site Managers, Supervisors, and Project Manager as required.
- Stay fully informed on company safety policies, environmental manuals, risk evaluations, legal requirements, and internal procedures.
- Deliver instruction, guidance, and training on all EHS topics to internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors and visitors.
- Perform internal audits and joint site inspections with management, identify gaps, suggest improvements, and document outcomes.
- Collaborate with site teams to create project-specific EHS plans, induction materials, and Risk Assessment Method Statements before and during project execution.
- Ensure EHS plans, inductions, and RAMS are current, periodically reviewed, and communicated to all affected parties including clients and other contractors.
- Visit new project sites to establish required safety documentation, registers, regulatory summaries, signage, SEOR programs, and confirm compliance with laws and policies.
- Review contractor onboarding processes to verify proper appointments and ensure only qualified contractors are engaged.
- Implement strategies and controls to prevent workplace incidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Notify the EHS Manager, Project Manager, and Site Managers of any incidents or near-misses promptly.
- Escalate identified safety concerns to responsible parties and report serious or recurring issues immediately to management.
- Keep records of all EHS-related communications with stakeholders.
- Lead incident investigations with site leadership, determine root causes, and propose preventive measures.
- Audit the project’s safety documentation system, verify regular risk assessments, confirm control measures, and ensure inspections and incident closures are completed.
- Produce monthly KPI reports and submit visit schedules, SEOR data, performance metrics, and violations to relevant managers.
- Distribute updated Safety Data Sheets to the EHS Manager as needed.
- Deliver targeted training and safety information to workers using suitable tools and formats.
