Spotify is hiring an Editor, Audiobooks – Southern Europe

About the Role

As an Editor for Audiobooks in Southern Europe, you will lead the development of editorial programming tailored to Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese audiences. Your work will center on curating audiobook collections that reflect regional publishing trends, cultural moments, and listener preferences, ensuring content is both accessible and engaging.

What You'll Do

  • Shape editorial strategy for audiobooks across Southern European markets, with a focus on non-English language storefronts
  • Regularly update and refine editorial content, including collections and playlists, using testing and performance insights
  • Use data analytics, cultural context, and listener behavior to inform content recommendations
  • Build and maintain relationships with publishing house representatives across the region, particularly those producing in Italian and Spanish
  • Collaborate with internal teams—marketing, PR, product, engineering, and growth—to amplify audiobook content across the platform
  • Monitor key performance indicators and share insights to guide future programming decisions
  • Ensure editorial output balances commercial goals with diverse, inclusive, and representative content

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in content editing, curation, or merchandising at a digital platform, publisher, or major bookseller
  • Fluency in both Italian and Spanish, with strong written and spoken English skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the publishing landscape in Southern Europe
  • Ability to identify compelling authors, series, and standalone titles for different listener needs
  • Experience using both qualitative and quantitative data to guide editorial choices
  • Proven track record of creating inclusive programming that reflects diverse voices and perspectives
  • Strong organisational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
  • Passion for audio storytelling and the growing spoken word landscape

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Portuguese or another Southern European language is a plus
  • Additional language skills that support regional engagement are highly valued

Work Mode

This role operates in a hybrid format, with flexibility to work remotely and regular in-person meetings—typically 2–3 per week—at one of the designated locations: Milan, Barcelona, or London.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment with support for remote productivity
  • Opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and functions
  • Inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and lived experiences
  • Commitment to accessibility and reasonable accommodations throughout employment
  • Workplace that champions equity and representation in content and teams
