Responsibilities
- Examine the truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips, and provide a written report on the truck's condition at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
- Drive the vehicle to and from designated destinations for up to 11 hours, with a maximum of 14 hours total, as permitted by DOT regulations.
- Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills to maneuver the vehicle at varying speeds in challenging situations, such as heavy traffic and inclement weather.
- Lift and carry up to seventy-five pounds as required.
- Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
- Report highway safety hazards noted along the route.
- Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, traffic conditions, or other emergencies.
- Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including the driver's record of duty status, mileage records, and other records required by law.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
