Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed organization of software engineers spanning multiple teams, including engineering managers and senior technical contributors
- Oversee recruitment, performance management, and career progression for direct reports, building depth in engineering talent through strategic hiring and retention
- Coach engineering managers to excel in accountability, objective setting, and career development, fostering independent leadership and measurable results
- Promote a culture rooted in ownership, innovation, speed, and ongoing enhancement within the engineering function
- Drive the evolution of engineering practices by defining and monitoring key metrics, using data to guide decisions and showcase advancement
- Design, implement, and refine engineering processes, standards, and methodologies to increase delivery speed without compromising quality or system reliability
- Operate with pragmatism and decisiveness—identify constraints, make informed judgments amid uncertainty, and maintain team momentum
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle for designated product domains, from system architecture and design to deployment, quality assurance, and operational support
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape and execute the technical roadmap, ensuring coherence with company objectives and product focus
- Remain technically engaged—participate in design sessions, architectural planning, and code discussions to maintain credibility and influence among engineers
- Advance the adoption of AI-powered software development tools and workflows, establishing best practices that enhance engineering productivity and output quality
- Support professional growth at all levels by identifying skill gaps, enabling learning opportunities, and assigning progressively challenging technical work
- Ensure all engineering outputs comply with security protocols, regulatory requirements, and data protection standards
- Work closely with Product, Design, DevOps, QA, and business partners to align planning, prioritize initiatives, and execute effectively
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical and executive audiences while preserving technical accuracy
- Manage team resourcing, budget considerations, and third-party vendor relationships as required
