Responsibilities
- Collaborates with senior management to define and execute strategic plans for product development in the assigned line of business.
- Directs data research and statistical analyses to address complex business challenges.
- Manages the full product research lifecycle, including initiating studies, planning resources, conducting research, leading implementation, and monitoring performance for the assigned line.
- Prioritizes and governs the product development portfolio to concentrate on high-impact initiatives.
- Evaluates and approves research plans and results to ensure rigor, clear insights, and actionable outcomes.
- Oversees the identification and resolution of product issues and directs the implementation of solutions and enhancements.
- Directs and synthesizes analyses of competitor pricing, features, and service levels, translating findings into product and pricing strategies.
- Establishes and oversees product training strategies, ensuring effective delivery across the organization as needed.
- Leads and manages the Product Research and Development area for the assigned line of business.
- Develops team members by establishing training opportunities and overseeing talent development, performance management, compensation decisions, and staffing.
- Builds and advances R&D Managers and Analysts at various levels to ensure strong succession planning and capability growth.
- Leads the decision-making process for evaluating new ideas and pricing positions for the assigned line, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic goals.
- Aligns colleagues and other divisions to implement and operationalize changes in pricing, product models, and enhancements.
- Ensures full integration with Underwriting, Sales, Claims, and other divisions to drive process improvement and product performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in an analytical field such as math, statistics, economics, finance, or quantitative research.
- 8+ years of experience in product development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Highly motivated with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the insurance market and emerging trends.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
- Strong track record of creativity in pricing and product development.
- Ability to review highly complex issues with significant financial impact and develop strategic solutions.
- Initiative and self-starting capability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build commitment to decisions.
- Excellent team building and staff development skills.
- Broad knowledge and experience with statistical and machine learning models.

- 15+ years of experience in the P&C insurance industry.
- 10+ years of experience in research, analytics, or planning.
- 10+ years of experience leading and managing a team.
- 5+ years of homeowners personal lines product experience.
