Axon is hiring a Director of Video Production

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of video production, from concept to delivery, for scheduled campaigns, urgent projects, and internal content
  • Create and maintain project documentation including briefs, timelines, shot lists, and production schedules in partnership with creative leadership
  • Organize logistics for filming, including securing locations, permits, travel, gear, and crew for both studio and on-location shoots
  • Lead production on shoot days, acting as the main point of contact for internal and external team members on set
  • Identify, contract, and oversee freelance crew, editors, production houses, and agency collaborators on a per-project basis
  • Supervise internal video editors and camera operators, ensuring creative consistency, clear direction, and timely execution
  • Develop and manage an approved network of external production talent in areas such as cinematography, editing, motion design, sound, and post-production
  • Act as the main contact between the company and law enforcement or public safety organizations involved in video projects
  • Manage production budgets from initial estimates through final accounting, tracking expenses across internal teams, vendors, and contractors
  • Prepare, review, and finalize contracts with production partners, ensuring compliance with legal and procurement policies
  • Handle location permits, talent release forms, and other legal agreements involving public safety or community partners
  • Find ways to improve production workflows and reduce costs while maintaining high creative and technical quality
  • Collaborate with creative leadership to define a clear artistic direction for each project before production begins
  • Work with marketing, product, sales, and communications teams to align on goals, messaging, and deliverables
  • Ensure all video content reflects brand standards, regardless of format or scale
  • Help shape and improve internal production systems, processes, and vendor partnerships over time

Work Arrangement

Hybrid — requires presence in Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, or Scottsdale, AZ

Team

Member of the internal creative team; supervises in-house editors and camera operators while coordinating with external contractors, production companies, and agency partners; reports to the Executive Creative Director
