The Trevor Project is hiring a Director of Foundations & Government Grants

About the Role

Lead the strategy and execution of foundation and government grant initiatives to support mission-driven programs. Manage grant lifecycle processes, cultivate donor relationships, and ensure compliance and reporting requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement funding strategies targeting foundations and public sector grant opportunities
  • Lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports
  • Build and maintain relationships with foundation program officers and government contacts
  • Oversee compliance with grant terms, conditions, and reporting deadlines
  • Collaborate with finance and program teams to ensure accurate budgeting and reporting
  • Monitor funding trends and identify new prospects aligned with organizational goals
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation and government grants
  • Ensure timely follow-up on grant acknowledgments and stewardship activities
  • Train and support staff on grant-related processes and requirements
  • Evaluate grant performance and impact to inform future proposals
  • Coordinate internal approvals for grant submissions
  • Maintain accurate records in the grants database
  • Represent the organization in external grant-related meetings
  • Support the development of case statements and funding materials
  • Assist in setting annual fundraising goals for grant programs
  • Lead grant audits and site visits when required
  • Ensure alignment of grant activities with organizational mission and priorities
  • Develop templates and systems to improve grant-writing efficiency
  • Provide updates to leadership on grant performance and pipeline
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration to strengthen proposals
