Responsibilities
- Lead the front-end platform and architecture using technologies such as Next.js with App Router, React, TypeScript, and Astro, managing micro-frontend integration, monorepo structure, shared design systems, state coordination across micro front-ends, and shell-level orchestration.
- Establish standardized practices for front-end development and deployment, including CI/CD pipelines, observability, accessibility compliance, performance thresholds, and contract testing across customer-facing and internal applications.
- Oversee the complete ordering journey from initial discovery and personalized content through menu exploration, cart management, checkout flow, and payment processing, integrating with backend services via backend-for-frontend (BFF) layers.
- Advance front-end development with AI integration, supporting design-to-code workflows using tools like Figma and Claude Design, enabling AI-assisted coding in context, and building AI-driven features such as smart recommendations, enhanced search, and chat-based ordering.
- Ensure front-end interfaces are structured to support both human users and AI agents by maintaining machine-readable outputs and API-first design principles, with attention to evolving commerce standards like MCP and Universal Commerce Protocol.
- Treat the design system as foundational infrastructure, managing design tokens, theming, and cross-platform uniformity, with documentation and packaging tailored for developers and AI-powered code generation.
- Manage and grow three engineering teams, including hiring and mentoring engineers and managers, and scaling team structures from lean initial staffing as the organization expands.
- Maintain strong technical leadership by evaluating system designs, questioning architectural choices, and detecting performance problems using technical telemetry and monitoring data.
