Deel is hiring a Director of Data Governance

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic data governance roadmap aligned with enterprise information management goals.
  • Maintain and enforce data management policies and governance charters to meet evolving regulatory and business requirements.
  • Act as a core leader in the Data Governance Council, guiding decisions on data standards and resolving interdepartmental data issues.
  • Establish and oversee data quality procedures, defining KPIs for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Define organization-wide standards for metadata, data lineage, and master data management practices.
  • Lead efforts to detect poor-quality data and coordinate remediation with data owners and stewards.
  • Partner with finance and security teams to prepare data infrastructure for AI use cases without compromising security.
  • Collaborate on data classification frameworks and control access to sensitive data in coordination with security teams.
  • Ensure adherence to international privacy laws and internal governance policies, working closely with compliance teams.
  • Build and manage a network of data stewards and owners across departments to strengthen local data accountability.
  • Promote data as a strategic asset by advancing data literacy and ownership across the company.
  • Deliver regular executive-level reports on governance maturity, data risks, and the impact of data quality improvements.
