About the Role

The Global Operations team drives efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. The Director oversees three interconnected domains: leading AI integration across operations in partnership with innovation teams, designing and improving cross-functional processes with departments like HR, Finance, and IT, and managing core operational infrastructure such as safety and security and knowledge management. Success requires a leader who can navigate diverse functional areas with strategic consistency and help scale operational impact across a dynamic global health organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategic vision for enterprise-wide AI adoption in collaboration with executive leadership and innovation partners, while supervising the manager responsible for execution, including training, governance, pilot programs, and vendor coordination.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-departmental operational projects across global and country offices, focusing on initiatives that span organizational boundaries.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance internal operations, design improved workflows, and ensure sustainable implementation of process changes.
  • Provide executive-level oversight for the organization’s global safety and security function, acting as the primary escalation point for critical incidents.
  • Develop and manage a scalable knowledge management system that supports and aligns with AI-driven transformation goals.
  • Lead and develop a team of six full-time employees, offering guidance, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.
  • Act as the project management office lead for key cross-organizational initiatives when directed by senior leadership.

Position Overview

The Global Operations team is responsible for enhancing operational performance across the organization. The Director, Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer and leads three integrated functions: Internal AI transformation – advancing AI adoption in coordination with the Innovation team. Strategic operations – redesigning processes and leading cross-functional priorities with HR, Finance, IT, Legal & Compliance, and other departments. Operational infrastructure – maintaining essential functions such as safety & security and knowledge management. These areas are interdependent: AI is now essential for high-performing operations, process improvements require reliable infrastructure, and strong infrastructure enables both transformation and continuous improvement. The organization seeks a leader with broad experience and adaptability to manage all three areas and the credibility to lead across diverse domains while maintaining strategic focus. This role offers extensive operational exposure within a complex, fast-paced global health environment and is ideal for someone ready to grow into broader organizational leadership.
