Abacus Insights is hiring a Director, Client Data Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full lifecycle onboarding of new clients, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery that meets client requirements.
  • Provide technical direction for ETL processes, data mapping, and integration workflows, enforcing consistency and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance CMS Interoperability and related implementation procedures.
  • Lead coordination with global and offshore teams to ensure aligned priorities and disciplined execution.
  • Mentor data engineers and new team members to build a high-performing, collaborative culture.
  • Drive daily delivery operations, including resource allocation, planning, and cross-team prioritization.
  • Define key performance indicators for the team, track progress, and implement improvements.
  • Champion innovation by evaluating and integrating new technologies that enhance scalability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years in data engineering, including direct client-facing implementation roles.
  • Proven track record in leading and guiding technical teams.
  • Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and complex data integrations.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data systems and standards, including experience with clinical or claims data.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and PySpark for data transformation tasks.
  • Advanced proficiency in writing, tuning, and managing complex SQL queries over large datasets.
  • Experience working with AWS infrastructure and data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.
  • Hands-on use of GitHub or GitLab for version control and team collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills and a data-driven approach to resolving technical and operational challenges.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting healthcare analytics, payer systems, or operational workflows in healthcare.
  • Exposure to machine learning methods or data science pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience applying DevOps or CI/CD methodologies in data engineering contexts.
