Wise is hiring a Digital Workplace Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical strategy and execution for key digital workspace platforms, delivering consistent and meaningful updates on a predictable schedule.
  • Develop custom automation and integration solutions connecting SaaS applications with internal systems to improve efficiency and reduce dependency on manual processes.
  • Manage incident response and conduct post-mortem analyses for system outages or configuration issues, supporting engineering escalation protocols when necessary.
  • Maintain long-term ownership of critical projects while ensuring knowledge transfer and team readiness to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Guide and support fellow engineers through mentorship, coaching, and onboarding activities across the digital workspace domain.
  • Work closely with Product, Security, and Identity and Access Management teams to influence roadmaps by clearly communicating feature rationale and user impact.
  • Foster collaborative practices across teams to reduce redundancy and align with broader engineering initiatives such as Tech Days and guild participation.
  • Contribute to hiring efforts by serving on interview panels and applying engineering best practices to talent acquisition.
  • Design and evolve systems with scalability and sustainability in mind, using clean architectural patterns, infrastructure-as-code, and comprehensive API documentation.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of digital workplace tools while managing technical debt within acceptable risk thresholds.
  • Uphold engineering standards for monitoring, alerting, observability, and compliance audits related to third-party services.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical roadmap and deliverables for the core digital workspace suite (Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, Filecloud, etc.), optimizing for predictable, regular cadences of impactful updates.
  • Build custom automations and integrations between the SaaS stack and internal systems to reduce manual overhead, eliminate single points of failure, and streamline employee lifecycles.
  • Lead incident resolution and post-mortem processes for minor and major outages or misconfigurations within the domain, participating in the engineering support and escalation model as needed.
  • Embrace long-term project ownership while actively training and upskilling other engineers to avoid becoming a single blocker.
  • Mentor, coach, and assist other engineers across the domain, facilitating onboarding for new team members.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Security, and IAM teams to provide feedback on roadmaps, ensuring articulation of why a feature is being built and the customer problem it solves.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration that minimizes duplicate work and aligns teams with broader engineering ceremonies (e.g., Tech Days, guilds).
  • Actively participate in the interview panel to help grow engineering talent using best practices.
  • Design and scale systems with a long-term approach, utilizing clean design patterns, infrastructure-as-code (where applicable), and robust API documentation.
  • Account for the availability, reliability, and security of digital workspace tools, proactively managing technical debt within the risk appetite.
