Work Arrangement
Remote (Worldwide) — Americas
Team
Team size: 5 to over 10 (doubling in next year). Structure: Design Engineering department led by VP of Engineering, works closely with CEO and Co-Founder.
Why You Shouldn’t Apply
- You only want to work on design systems exclusively.
- You like to do extensive research and user testing before implementation.
- You want everything to be perfect before it gets into a user’s hands.
- You don’t have excellent taste and execution in visual design.
- You need company-driven process and structure to complete projects.
- You’d rather focus only on design and technical details.
- You only want to do exciting work and avoid customer issues or investigations.
What Seniority/Level To Apply For
- Junior Design Engineer - No more than 2 years of industry experience as a designer or engineer. Projects should showcase visual taste and talent in both UI/UX and Engineering.
- Design Engineer (This Posting) - Covers Mid and Senior levels. 2+ years of continuous experience as an Engineer or Designer. Proficient in both disciplines, with exceptional skill in one.
- Staff Design Engineer - Practiced Design Engineering professionally. Made major contributions to a design system and designed and implemented features for hundreds of users, iterating via feedback.
What We’re Building
- Building intelligent and powerful software for Talent Acquisition (TA) teams to improve hiring efficiency.
- Creating software that automates or simplifies tasks like scheduling interviews, tracking interviewer preparation, and managing interview load.
- Developing software that provides insights into hiring failures and improves team productivity with fewer resources.
Engineering Culture
- Minimal process with ownership over decisions normally made by product and design.
- Natural collaboration and deliberate communication across time zones.
- Focus on building a diverse and inclusive team.
- Engineers run their own projects: research, write specs, build wireframes, implement end-to-end.
- Engineers communicate proactively with stakeholders and pull in help when needed.
- Focus time is sacred; engineers spend <2 hours per week in meetings.
Increase Leverage, not Team Size
- Investing in great developer tooling (CI/CD ~10m, deploy 15x/day).
- Debugger that works out of the box; everyone contributes to developer experience.
- Building blocks: analytics modeling/query language, policy engine, workflow engine, design system.
- Improvements to common components cascade throughout the app.
- AI-powered tooling to automate mundane tasks: auto-triage issues, suggest fixes, prototype, generate code, conduct reviews.
- Unlimited token budget for AI tools (not measured on usage).
Interview Process
- Introduction call with Abhik, VP of Engineering (30m, live). Prepare to screen-share work examples.
- Second round: either a technical screen (1h live) or a design take-home (~3h async + 30m live).
- Three interviews: deep dive into past design system/project, design system interview, and the non-chosen second-round component.
- 3-4 people from Design Engineering interviewed, with 5-15 minutes to ask questions each.
- No leetcode or whiteboard exercises.
- Written guidance provided for each round.
- Feedback provided if no offer is made.
