Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing improvement of the company's compliance structure, emphasizing MiFID II and MiCA standards across all 30 EEA countries served
- Act as the final escalation authority and technical expert for intricate sanctions-related alerts, performing in-depth analysis of possible matches
- Manage regulatory reporting duties, including transaction filings, and serve as primary contact during regulatory reviews, audits, and inspections
- Collaborate with legal, product, and engineering departments to ensure both new and current offerings comply with relevant regulations such as MiFID and MiCA
- Maintain and revise sanctions policies and procedures to remain consistent with changing EU standards from ESMA, national legislation, and global corporate guidelines
- Perform independent testing of sanctions controls, watchlist screening systems, and customer onboarding processes, leading efforts to resolve identified deficiencies
- Oversee procedures for freezing assets and fulfilling mandatory reporting, ensuring confirmed matches are blocked and reported to authorities within required timeframes
- Supervise screening technologies and blockchain analysis platforms, providing strategic input and optimization guidance to frontline teams
- Track emerging EU regulatory changes and convert regional compliance risks into practical updates for the firm’s screening systems
