Responsibilities
- Prepare and present pastries, desserts, breads and other sweet items to recipes and standards.
- Set up your section properly before service and keep it organised, clean and ready throughout the shift.
- Work closely with the Chef de Partie and senior pastry team to deliver consistent quality, taste and presentation.
- Check ingredients, equipment and mise en place before service, raising issues early rather than letting them become problems.
- Follow food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures at all times, keeping accurate records where needed.
- Help manage stock rotation, daily requisitions and storage so ingredients stay fresh and waste stays low.
- Support menu changes, special events and new dishes, bringing ideas and being open to feedback.
- Look after kitchen equipment and report anything that needs repairing.
- Help new team members find their feet and share what you know as your confidence grows.
- Jump into other sections when the kitchen needs you - no egos, just good teamwork.
Requirements
- You’ll have some experience in a professional pastry kitchen, bakery or hotel kitchen and a good grounding in basic pastry techniques.
- You care about detail, consistency and presentation, but you can also work with pace when service gets busy.
- You understand the importance of food hygiene, safe working and keeping a well-organised section.
- You’re reliable, positive and happy working as part of a close kitchen team.
Nice to Have
- A culinary or pastry qualification is useful, but practical skill, attitude and potential matter most.
