Responsibilities
- Build and manage automated GitLab pipelines for deploying, updating, and configuring SQL Server and PostgreSQL database instances.
- Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using PowerShell, Ansible playbooks and roles via Ansible Automation Platform, and modular IaC components for on-premises database infrastructure.
- Create PowerShell scripts and T-SQL stored procedures to streamline regular database management and server operations.
- Automate core database functions including backup routines, health monitoring, patch management, and configuration compliance enforcement.
- Incorporate security scanning, system hardening practices, and FISMA compliance checks into deployment workflows to support PostgreSQL Authority to Operate requirements.
- Develop and keep current technical documentation, operational runbooks, and conduct knowledge sharing with client teams.
- Deploy, configure, upgrade, and support SQL Server versions 2019, 2022, and 2025 across development, testing, and production environments.
- Oversee backup strategies, restore procedures, and disaster recovery protocols for database systems.
- Track database performance, capacity, uptime, and system health using built-in and third-party monitoring tools.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks such as index rebuilding, statistics refreshing, and database integrity validation with DBCC CHECKDB.
- Manage database security settings, including user access, role assignments, encryption features like TDE and Always Encrypted, and permission structures.
- Optimize and tune database performance to ensure efficient query execution and resource utilization.
Compensation
$42.50 - $45.50 / Hr.

- Period of Performance: 9/14/26 – 12/31/26 with potential for a 12-month extension.
- Work Location: On-site in Washington, DC; no remote or hybrid work allowed.
- Place of Work: Full-time position based at the New York Avenue facility in Washington, D.C.
- Work Schedule: Standard weekday first shift, Monday through Friday.
- On-call rotation is required to address critical hardware failures.
- Occasional travel may be necessary.
- Weekend or overtime work may be required based on operational needs.
- Salary: $42.50 - $45.50 per hour.
