Responsibilities
- Design and enhance database systems to handle high-volume, large-scale application demands.
- Manage and sustain PostgreSQL cluster environments.
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery protocols to guarantee uninterrupted operations.
- Automate database operations such as scaling, monitoring, and upkeep using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, Ansible, and GitLab CI.
- Improve system performance across schema architecture, query efficiency, indexing, caching, and storage layers.
- Implement and oversee replication and sharding techniques to support availability, resilience, and global data distribution.
- Maintain adherence to SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR standards while applying robust database security measures.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of practical DBA experience in live, distributed systems.
- Extensive understanding of PostgreSQL internals and operations.
- Demonstrated capability managing databases on major cloud providers including AWS, GCP, Azure, and Yandex Cloud.
- Advanced skills in SQL query optimization, schema design, and indexing methods.
- Solid background in replication, partitioning, and clustering within highly available architectures.
- Proficiency with backup, restore, and failover procedures in multi-availability zone and multi-region configurations.
- Experience in automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or Go.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes-based deployments, including PostgreSQL operators like Zalando’s, and Kafka via Strimzi, along with observability tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, and AWS CloudWatch.
- B1 or higher English proficiency for clear communication within a global team.

- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code platforms such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or CloudFormation.

- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA in production-grade, distributed environments.
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Proven expertise in managing databases across major cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Yandex Cloud)
- Advanced expertise in SQL query tuning, schema optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Strong experience with replication, partitioning, and clustering in high-availability systems.
- Proficiency in backup, restore, and failover mechanisms in multi-AZ and multi-region setups.
- Skills in automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Go).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes-based deployments(example operator Zalando for PG,Strimzi Kafka) and modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).
- B1 or higher English level for effective communication with an international team
