VTG is hiring a Database Administrator (DBA) to provide administration and engineering support across a complex enterprise environment for a government customer. This role is for a highly skilled database professional with deep Oracle experience, who will manage databases across Windows, Linux, and cloud-based infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Provide administration, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise database environments, with a primary focus on Oracle databases
- Perform database installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and patch management across Windows and Linux environments
- Support database deployments and infrastructure hosted on AWS RDS and traditional on-premise systems
- Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure high availability and reliability for mission systems
- Implement and maintain database security controls and access management in accordance with government security requirements
- Work closely with software developers and system engineers to support application integration and database architecture design
- Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical collaboration
- Utilize Agile collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for issue tracking, documentation, and code repository management
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, system outages, and operational challenges
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and system modernization initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field with 16+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience with Oracle database administration
- Experience supporting Oracle databases in Windows environments
- Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL database platforms
- Experience supporting databases across Linux, Windows, and/or AWS RDS environments
- Experience working within Agile development environments
- Experience using Agile collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, and GitHub
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning experience in complex enterprise environments
